Title: A (Beautiful) Binary Violation
Logline: In a dystopian city where gender roles are law and even wearing ripped skinny jeans and a button up can get you fined, how does Noel, a nonbinary senior in highschool, stand up against the hierarchy?
Production Description: A student produced film from the minds of the Video Production 1 class. This is a dystopian coming of age 5 minute short film that takes a look at the effects of a world dictated by gender roles.
Casting: (We are looking for mainly LGBTQ+ / queer actors.)
Noel: One of the two leads, Noel is a nonbinary senior in highschool who uses their clothing as a means of rebelling against the system they were born into. (We are looking for actors who can portray an older highschool student, preferably someone in their teens or early 20s.)
Officer Morris: The second of the two leads, Officer Morris is a woman in her 30s to 40s who is one of the gender role enforcers at Noel’s school. Morris struggles to enforce the law, while also showing compassion for Noel.
Ryan: Ryan is a trans male senior in highschool who is outgoing and friendly to both Noel and Morris. (Again we are looking for actors who can portray an older highschool student, preferably someone in their teens or early 20s.)
Filming: We are hoping to film either the 22nd +23rd of April or the 29th +30th of April. However, since we are a smaller crew and cast, we are more than willing to work out whatever schedule is best for everyone.
Auditioning: If you are interested in auditioning, please email ebfish26@unm.edu, who will send you the script. We are looking for just a 30 second to 1 minute clip of you performing whatever portion of the script you feel demonstrates your talent best. We can’t wait to hear from you!
