Story Quest Studios is proud to announce the BALD Musical casting call is now open. BALD Musical casting is your chance to join an original comedic short film that blends big-band flair with theatrical dance numbers — and earn real screen credits in the process.
BALD Musical Casting Call: About the Project
BALD: The Musical is a bold, comedic short film about overcoming your fears, directed by Ben Piñon as a UNM Film and Digital Media Arts capstone project through the UNM FDMA program. Filming takes place February 19th–21st, 2026 in Albuquerque, NM. This is a non-union, unpaid production — meals, demo reel footage, and IMDb credit are provided for all cast members. If you have been sharpening your performance skills in our Albuquerque acting classes, this is exactly the kind of real-world opportunity those classes prepare you for.
Characters
Arthur (Early 20s) is a year out of college, struggling financially, and fighting for a sales and marketing job while dreaming of becoming an independent business owner. Pop culture savvy, ambitious, and relatable.
Brett (Early 50s) is an affluent, tenured psychotherapist who presents as wise but is, as the script puts it, completely full of it. Quirky, a little off-beat, and genuinely funny.
Madison (Early 20s) is a talented hair stylist — bright, sweet, and kind on the surface, with an underlying pessimism that gives her real comedic depth and range.
Why the BALD Musical Casting Call Is Worth Your Time
For actors in Albuquerque looking to build their resume, a student musical short film is a meaningful credit. You walk away with IMDb recognition, reel footage, and the experience of working on a fully produced original musical — all in a collaborative, creative environment.
