My name is Terra McKeown, and I am a returning UNM student in the Film Production program. I am also the author of the urban fantasy novel Chasing Dawn, the first book in the series The Alters.
Based on the novel itself, I am producing and directing an audio drama podcast in the vein of the old radio dramas from the early 20th Century. This audio drama, once completed and after its podcast run, will become the abridged audiobook for the novel. We need 12 actors to voice the various characters. There are stipends paid to actors, as well as points/royalties on the audiobook itself. It won’t be anything to quit your day job over, but on our budget, we’re doing the best we can.
The first round of auditions will be electronic, where you will provide voice samples. This first round will end on May 10, 2023. We will then have in person and virtual live auditions for those we select at the end of May, and casting decisions will be made by June 1.
Recording for the audio drama will take place over the summer and early fall of 2023, both in person and virtual. In addition, we will have a virtual live event on October 21, 2023, at which actors will read selections from the book and should be available that evening.
