A casting call for a New Mexico short film is now open for Tin Can — a silent, experimental short film by Ryan M. Jaroch and KelmX Productions, filming Saturday, April 25th, 2026 on location in the New Mexican desert. Story Quest Studios is proud to share this unique opportunity with actors across Albuquerque and New Mexico.
About the Film
Tin Can is a silent, experimental short film about a lonely drifter named Jack wandering the vast New Mexican desert, when he stumbles upon the woman of his dreams, Jane. The two find an unexpected connection during a non-verbal encounter — passing notes only through an old, rusty tin can. This is a visually driven, performance-first project that demands genuine presence and emotional storytelling without words — exactly the kind of deep, instinctual work our Albuquerque acting classes are built around. The film will be submitted to film festivals in and out of state.
Roles Available
Two roles are open for this casting call. All submissions welcome as long as you fit the age range.
Jack — Ages 18–25, any gender presenting male. A lonely drifter wandering the New Mexican desert. Quiet, weathered, searching.
Jane — Ages 18–25, female. The woman Jack encounters in the desert. Mysterious, warm, and open to an unexpected connection.
Production Details
Filming date: Saturday, April 25th, 2026
Location: On location, approximately 20–25 minutes outside of UNM. Transportation can be arranged if needed.
Conditions: Outdoor desert shoot — it will likely be sunny and warm. Water and snacks will be provided. Cast and crew must bring their own sun protection — hats, sunscreen, or umbrellas.
Compensation: Non-union, non-paid. All actors will receive on-screen credit and IMDb credits.
Consent required: All actors must provide consent to public screenings as this film will be entered into film festivals.
